Baked Plums with Vanilla Ice Cream (A Simple Fruit Dessert)
When plums are in season, sometimes the simplest way to enjoy them is also the best. These baked plums transform into a warm, caramelized dessert with just a touch of brown sugar and a few minutes in the oven. I like to serve mine warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon; it’s cozy, easy, and just a little indulgent.

Tips & Variations on Baked Plums
- Add a splash of vanilla or almond extract before baking for extra depth of flavor. I added vanilla and butter to mine.
- Try peaches, nectarines, or apricots in place of plums
- Skip the ice cream and serve with Greek yogurt, oatmeal, or a sprinkle of granola for a lighter option.
- Prep ahead – halve and sugar the plums earlier in the day, then bake just before serving.
Serving Ideas
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream (as pictured).
- Drizzle with honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.
- Pair with shortbread cookies or a slice of pound cake for a plated dessert.
